Here you will find info on the who, what, when, where and how of A-Kon and the Artist's Alley. The info here has been provided by not only Convention veterans, but by Dallas Natives.

Important Paperwork/Vital Info

Convention Registration - You will need to register for A-Kon, independent of your registration as a participant in thet Artist Alley.


Rules and regulations about the Artist Alley - Located on the Official A-Kon Artist Alley forum. All artists are responsible for info included here, regardless of having read it!


Tax IDs are REQUIRED - "Every Independent artist behind each table MUST have a tax ID number. There is NO exception to this issue. ALL professions have a designation number that can be selected when applying for the sales permit/tax ID number. It does not matter what name you may call it, profits from sales are required by law to be reported to the government. I am not required to monitor what you report to the government, but I am required to make sure that all sellers have legal documentation for selling items, services, or any combination therein." - Steven Heinrich

Who Has a Table? - A complete listing of official Artist Attendees.

Who Can Go Behind Tables? - Not just anyone! Only a specific list of people are allowed behind tables with artists. You MAY NOT invites groups of friends to hang out with you behind tables. The AA is a place of business; persons not on the list may not go behind tables without explicit permission from Steven Heinrich.

Standby Lists - There are two lists: Regular Stand-by and At-Con standby.

  • Regular Stand-By: A list of people who are on a waiting list to recieve a table. You will be contacted if you get a table.
  • At-Con Stand-By: People who are on the Regular Stand-By don't always show up at the convention if they're not guaranteed a table. At-Con Stand-By is for people who show up regardless.

Persons not at the Convention who are on the waiting list are automatically booted off.


Artist's Survival Map - Because she is so kind, the webmaster has compiled a Google Map chock full of important locations. Included are:

  • art supply stores
  • general stores
  • alternate hotels (the ones that don't cost $300/night)
  • drug stores
  • hospitals
  • Dallas airports
  • fast food (pizza, hamburgers)
  • cheap sit-down joints (Denny's, IHOP)
  • nearby bank locations

The webmaster lives in Dallas so she has some general idea of what's going on there. Remember to ZOOM IN. Locations may look close to the Con, but are a little further than first glance.
